Disturbing news has come from Wayanad, Kerala, as India’s emerging spinner Minnu Mani’s aunt, Radha, was tragically attacked and killed by a tiger, according to reports. Radha, aged 45, was on her way to pick coffee beans at a private estate in Mananthavady. Her husband, who works as a forest watcher on a temporary basis, dropped her near the main road close to the plantation area.
However, before she could reach the forest, a tiger attacked her. Over the years, many families have suffered from wild animal attacks, primarily from big felines and elephants. This long-standing issue saw a massive protests after Radha’s death, with residents demanding action from government officials responsible for ensuring safety in such areas.
It was also reported that the state anti-Maoist force and State SC/ST Welfare Minister O R Kelu visited the area to calm the protesters. Kelu said that the tiger would be shot and announced a compensation of Rs 11 lakh for Radha’s family, with Rs 5 lakh to be paid immediately. It is important to note that this is not the first incident of such attacks in Wayanad.
