Arguably world’s tennis greatest player, Novak Djokovic will soon have a new coach in three-time Grand Slam champion, Brit Andy Murray. The Serbian tennis player took to Twitter, to make the announcement, late on Saturday. In a post he wrote, “he never liked retirement anyway”.
Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic New Partners
It must be noted that Andy Murray quit the sport earlier this year. Now, he will be partnering with Novak Djokovic, against whom he lost five Grand Slam finals in his career. The two will begin their partnership during the off season, as per a report in The Mirror, which will continue until the Australian Open.
Speaking in a highlight reel, Djokovic said, “We played each other since we were boys.”
“Twenty-five years of being rivals, of pushing each other beyond our limits. We had some of the most epic battles in our sport. They called us gamechangers, risk-takers, history-makers. I thought our story may be over. Turns out it has one final chapter. It’s time for one of my toughest opponents to step into my corner. Welcome on board coach Andy Murray.”
Murray too confirmed the development and said, “I’m going to be joining Novak’s team in the off season, helping him to prepare for the Australian Open.”
“I’m really excited for it and looking forward to spending time on the same side of the net as Novak for a change, helping him to achieve his goals”.
