Ο Sanjay Manjrekar ενημέρωσε τον Kuldip Yadawa να πάρει ένα φύλλο από το βιβλίο του Adil Rashid και να εργαστεί με το ρυθμό του μπροστά στους πρωταθλητές Trofa
Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar urged Kuldeep Yadav to work on his pace ahead of ICC Champions Trophy. The spinner made his return to international cricket in the IND vs ENG ODI series after being on the sidelines owing to an injury he picked up during the series against New Zealand in 2024. Manjrekar urged Kuldeep to take a leaf out of Adil Rashid’s book in terms of maintaining pace while bowling.
Manjrekar worried about Kuldeep before Champions Trophy
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo Matchday, Manjrekar pointed out that Kuldeep was forced to bowl quicker in order to ensure he played for India. However, the ex-India batter pointed out that now the spinner was only bowling flat and quicker. He noted that Yadav’s real greatness was in the deception and turn and that the quicker he bowled, the lesser he would be able to achieve that.
“Kuldeep Yadav worries me a little, as in, his speed that he bowls at. There was so much focus and criticism of how slow he is. The criticism was about the ball coming slow off the pitch, not about in the air. That’s where he has made a compromise and you can understand why. He had to get quicker. It was almost like he had to bowl quicker to play for India. But now what is happening is he is bowling only quick and flat. His real greatness is the deception and turn and the quicker you bowl, the lesser you are going to achieve it. So you become more pitch dependent,” Manjrekar said.

Further, Manjrekar urged Kuldeep to take inspiration from Adil Rashid. He pointed out that the England spinner had bowled with speeds varying from 70 kmph to 90 kmph whereas Yadav was only bowling in late 80 kmph speeds.
“Now, in comparison I think Adil Rashid had a great series, bowling to a quality Indian batting line-up. If you look at Rashid’s speed, he has oscillated from mid-70s to late 80s and even 90 kmph. Whereas Kuldeep has remained in the high 80s,” Manjrekar added.
Kuldeep only managed to pick two wikcets from 2 matches in IND vs ENG ODI series. On the contrary, he conceded 91 runs. Varun Chakravarthy, who was handed his ODI debut in the series, fared decently well. His performances in the T20I series that preceeded ensured that he managed to get a last-minute entry into India’s Champions Trophy squad.
