A calm and composed Babar Azam is all set for Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan cricket team will kick-start their campaign by taking on New Zealand in Karachi on Wednesday. Ahead of the marquee tournament, Babar provided an insight into the team’s preparation and game plan.
Babar Azam ready to embrace Champions Trophy pressure
Speaking to ICC, Babar said pointed out that a lot had changed within the team since their Champions Trophy win in 2017, noting that there were hardly any members left from that side in the current unit. He claimed that there was no pressure on Pakistan whatsoever, adding that what happened in the past was done and dusted. Azam revealed that the team had discussed their mistakes and had made sure that they worked on them.
“There is no pressure of anything. What has happened in the past is beyond us. We have discussed mistakes we have made and we have worked on them,” Babar said.

Babar will be itching to get back into form, with Pakistan heavily relying on him at the top of the order. The former Pakistan captain will open the innings along with Fakhar Zaman in the marquee tourney.
“When you have responsibility as a senior player in any team and the team relies on you and has belief in you, then I take it in a positive way,” he added.
Babar Azam’s last few ODI outings have been miserable, with the batter failing to convert good starts to big scores. His last century came in 2023 post which he has looked rather out of touch. Ahead of Champions Trophy, Babar pinned his hopes on the home advantage to provide an edge to the hosts.
“When you play at home you get that edge as you know the conditions,” he said.
